Fees & Financial Support

MecaNano will strive to refund travel costs, in particular for early career researchers, as possible within the available budget as long as they are MecaNano members. Please note that the reimbursement process can take several months and your patience is kindly requested.

We do not charge an intrinsic conference fee!

The conference rooms are paid for by COST MecaNano.

Unless otherwise stated, the participants are expected to cover their own travel costs and pay for their own meals. Please understand that COST rules do not allow us to subsidize full meals.

A conference dinner will be organized on Thursday 2. May at a Viennese Heurigen. An additional cost will be associated to the conference dinner (approximately €50-60) to be paid 1 week before the event. Further instructions will be provided as soon as everything is arranged.

MecaNano will strive to refund travel costs of as many speakers as possible within budget limits, according to COST rules and based on the scientific quality of the submitted abstracts. As per COST rules, a daily allowance maximum (of €170/day) will be provided that is used to cover hotel, meals, and short distance travel to the event. Costs over the daily maximum cannot be reimbursed by MecaNano. Airfare and train costs of distances more than 101 km will most likely be reimbursed (up to €1500).

The financial decisions will be announced during the week after the closure of the abstract submission. Please submit your abstract on time.

All travel reimbursements are administered AFTER the event. Participants must arrange their own transport and accomodation for the event. MecaNano is not responsible for any travel arrangements, only the reimbursement AFTER the event.

REMEMBER: Only members MecaNano will have the opportunity to have their travel refunded. If you are not already a MecaNano member, please join (no fees!) through the e-COST platform. Please apply well in advance (ca 1 month) before the general meeting.
